READ School Speakers are university student volunteers trained by both READ and Oxfam to deliver fun, interactive global citizenship presentations and workshops based on READ’s work, in schools across the UK.
So what are we doing about it?
READ and Oxfam have joined forces to add a new aspect to the READ Book Project - Think Global. We have developed a series of interactive global citizenship presentations, developed alongside teachers and structured to cover the global aspects of 11-14 citizenship curriculum. They cater for a range of abilities and learning styles and are delivered by our READ and Oxfam trained volunteer School Speakers.
Our presentations open young people's minds to global issues, promote student volunteering, young enterprise, recycling and the importance of education.
We want to give students the ability to respond proactively to these issues, by providing the resources and support required for schools to carry out an action. We hope that this, along with our interactive presentations and emphasis on feedback will encourage students to continue volunteering and become valuable members of their local, national and global communities.
Our School Speakers can come into your schools to deliver assembly presentations, run lesson long workshops or work with your students for a whole day. Click here to find out more.
