British Library

The British Library have made READ their CSR partner of the year for 2009

The British Library is the National Library of the UK. Based in London it is one of the worlds largest research libraries and holds 14 million books, 920,000 journal and newspaper titles, 58 million patents, 3 million sound recordings, and much more.

They are committed to:

"Helping people advance knowledge to enrich lives"

We are delighted that they have chosen to support us as their corporate community initiative for 2009/10.

Throughout the year the British Library will provide us with:

- Hands on support

- Advice and support on developing a bibliographic database which will enable us to improve our tracking and quality control

- Facilitate the development of a 'Consistent Library Environment' model

And more, including all the knowledge and expertise they can share with us to help us grow and develop.

This partnership is extremely exciting for us all at READ and at the British Library.

Mark Stringer, HR Information and Business Development Manager for the British Library said: "As part of the British Library's ongoing development to its Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, we are very pleased to help support READ International in its efforts to develop reading, education and library accessibility in East Africa."

Robert Wilson, Director of READ International said: "We are so excited about what this relationship will mean. We see the British Library as world experts in what you do, so as we seek to develop the work we deliver to school libraries in East Africa we couldn't possibly have a more relevant partner to support us with our work."
