The READ Celebration Event
Staff, trustees, volunteers, sponsors and supporters all joined together in a rare ensemble at the lavishly decorated Speaker’s House at the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 27, January 2010. The event was designed to celebrate the many partnerships READ has forged over its young life, which have helped to facilitate our rapid expansion.
READ is no stranger to praise but to receive it on such a stage was indeed flattering. The Speaker himself extended his congratulations as well as urging us to “please redouble your efforts”! Succinct yet emotive speeches followed from both Robert Wilson (Founding Director) and Laela Adamson (Head of Tanzanian Operations) before Tom Levitt, MP, our patron and number one fan, wrapped up the official stuff with some kind words of his own - "Whatever your definition of good - READ is it!"
Thanks to everyone who attended and for making it a truly memorable event. Thanks also to everyone who continues to support us, be safe in the knowledge that you are contributing to something "READ does with Tanzania, not to Tanzania" (Tom Levitt MP)
